These figures are recomputed from the database several times a day: they reflect the platform as it really is, not a chosen snapshot. TriMates is a young project, launched in early 2026 and built by one person.
Triathlon is seen as a solo sport: training alone, individual performance, private data on a watch. Yet its three disciplines are among those best practised together. A long ride, track intervals, an open-water session: all are better shared.
The gap is not in the sport but in its tools. Tracking apps measure, clubs provide structure, but nothing made it easy for amateur triathletes to meet by discipline, level and area, with no commitment and no membership fee.
From June to August most clubs pause their sessions, and those were TriMates' busiest months. As the project only started in March 2026, we draw no conclusion about seasonality: it will take a second summer to tell the season apart from growth.
Nicolas Laurentin
Founder of TriMates
Nicolas Laurentin started TriMates in March 2026. An amateur triathlete, he built the platform around a gap he ran into himself: finding someone to train with for the next session, without joining a club.

TriMates is a free French platform connecting triathletes, runners, cyclists and swimmers to train together. On a map of upcoming sessions, anyone can publish a workout (discipline, date, place, level, distance) and join the ones that match, with no licence and no membership fee. The platform also offers the French race calendar, carpooling between participants and women-only spaces. It is built by an independent founder and is not affiliated with any federation or commercial brand.
